The Ultimate Guide to a Charter Oak Country Club Wedding

A Wedding to remember

Over 70% of couples say the feel of their venue is the biggest factor in choosing a place for your wedding day - that can be a difficult thing to express but it's exactly why Charter Oak Country Club in Hudson, MA, is such a great choice. With classic Georgian-style architecture on the outside and a clean, modern interior, it offers a sense of intimacy and grandeur all at once. If you want something elevated but not pretentious, this is the venue for you. This post is a great guide if you're planning a Charter Oak Country Club wedding, are considering it, or just looking for inspiration.

The Setting: Luxury and New England Charm

Charter Oak Country Club is not your typical golf course venue. You won’t find plain ballrooms or outdated carpet here.

  • Grand foyer with a sweeping staircase
  • A wraparound balcony with brick work and views of the grounds - perfect for golden hour portraits
  • A ballroom that has the feel of a five-star hotel

The venue accommodates up to 275 guests, but it still feels personal. That’s a tough balance to strike, and Charter Oak does it very well.

Architectural Highlights

  • The Great Room: Soaring ceilings, brass chandeliers, and floor-to-ceiling-windows.
  • Private Cocktail Lounge: Speakeasy elegance that's great for cocktail hour and capturing candid moments.
  • Dedicated Outdoor Ceremony Space: Easy access and with beautiful views offer a backdrop that doesn’t need much dressing up.

The Ceremony Spaces

The Terrace

The newest addition to Charter Oak overlooks the golf course, framed by beautiful landscaping and seasonal flowers and trees. The covered balcony overlooks the space so we can capture a beautiful overhead view of your ceremony. The large stone patio can accommodate all your guests and is easily accessible from the main building.

The Lawn

A great alternative for an outdoor ceremony, the lawn is surrounded by soaring mature trees on one side and the beautiful columns and brick of the clubhouse on the other. You can add a personal touch with floral arrangements, seat decorations, or an arbor..

Pro Tip: On sunny days, you'll get great late day colors but the aisle may also be backlit during the processional. Make sure your photographer knows how to handle these lighting conditions.

The Ballroom

If the New England weather doesn't cooperate, the Grand Ballroom is a great option for an indoor ceremony. There is space for up to 275 guests and the vaulted ceilings, French doors, and interior columns create an open and relaxing feel for your wedding.

Photo Locations You'll Love

The 9th Hole

A beautiful path lined with greenery and a rustic stone wall is a terrific backdrop leading to the 9th hole. Just a short walk from the clubhouse, this secluded area is perfect for a first look, couples portraits as well as group photos.

The Arches

These beautiful architectural details create symmetrical framing and are a great way to showcase the clubhouse. It also allows for great photos even if there is harsh sun or rain as using the cover of the archways will keep the weather out while still getting a soft, flattering light.

The Balcony

The tall columns bring a really interesting perspective and you can't go wrong with the view overlooking the stunning landscape below. The large area of the balcony gives plenty of space to move around and try different angles, while the brick wall offers a nice contrast to the neutral tones of the woodwork.
